I’ve been spending my time in red dead online, which is a much simpler game. I have a big stupid horse, a six shooter on my hip, and a frontier to explore. But why would I choose to play a game with fewer updates, less content, and fewer toys to play with compared to the more-developed world of grand theft auto online?

Players start as petty crooks in GTA online, performing smaller jobs. I still fondly remember saving up for my own apartment while driving my midrange car around los santos.

Since then, our characters have climbed the game’s ranks to become proper grand theft auto protagonists in their own right. Rockstar has built on that core concept with illicit business transactions, shell corporations, motorcycle clubs, flying deloreans that shoot missiles, hot wheels-style races in the sky, asymmetrical horror murder, and random world challenges.

I walked away from GTA online when I was given a mission to steal an antique car from a collector. Another player called in his tank as I was pulling out of the driveway with my loot, and then camped me for over 20 minutes, using a wild arsenal of unstoppable military tools to keep me from finishing the mission.

The world had become so lawless, and the players so powerful, that it no longer felt like a world. It was more like playing GI joes in the sandbox, until another kid came in and poured cement over everyone’s stuff. Sure, they won, but at what cost? Now no one is having fun.

Turning it back around

By contrast, the casino update is a dream. It only costs $500 in GTA dollars to join with a membership, so even players that are barely scraping by can experience it. The campaign itself is a whole lot of fun, with interesting missions and colorful characters.

When I’m inside the casino itself, I cannot pull a weapon or cause any chaos. I can simply walk around, hang out with my friends (and random strangers), play games, and people watch. The big prize is a really nice sports car — not one that can fly, or shoot missiles, or run over lesser, weaker cars. It restores the fun of just racing through the streets of los santos, and lowers the stakes.

Does this totally transform the game by itself? No, but it comes with anti-griefing measures that make escaping the chaos easier (and exploiting passive mode harder). It’s an update that steps away from the ever-escalating arms race, and the most dangerous toys still stay locked behind a cash wall.

But, of course, there’s the casino itself, and that has to be addressed. Buying fake money with real money that you can then use to gamble feels out of a step with an industry in which loot boxes, microtransactions, and addiction are finally being discussed in a serious manner.

I have struggled with serious addictions in the past, including one to gambling. I skimmed through the casino, bet on a few horse races, and paid for a few pulls on the slot machine. This was a virtual casino, not a real one, so would I be mostly immune to its charms? I wasn’t actually that interested in finding out. It’s hard to even say that gambling is an essential part of the update, since that feature is unavailable in 50 countries due to differing online regulation of virtual gambling.

But the casino keeps things exciting while keeping everyone, more or less, honest as they play their way through the experience. We’re all out to beat the house, not each other. Well, not just each other, at least.

But what does it mean to exist in the world of GTA online? Is it a lawless sandbox dedicated only to spectacle, with enough content that players stay on a constant grind, unless they decide to drop real cash to get what they want? Or is it an actual grand theft auto-style world, where I’m meant to root for my character and her allies as we work through our murderous mayhem?

I couldn’t deal with GTA online for a long time because it felt too much like that lawless, spectacle-ridden sandbox. The casino update is audacious, and it comes at an awkward time due to its themes of gambling and big-money wins and losses . But it also takes a huge step towards revitalizing the game for me and my friends.

When it comes to giving players new toys, sometimes simple and relatable is better than big and flashy. Access to a penthouse grants you VIP membership, which makes available a whole array of extras including exclusive lounges, high-limit tables in the casino, a private spa, and a rooftop infinity pool.

There are currently four different penthouse suites on offer in the casino including the design your own, crash pad, party penthouse, and high roller. The design your own p enthouse can be upgraded to adjust floor plans and accommodate any extra rooms you may need such as a home cinema. Below are the penthouse features available:

You’ll be able to decorate your new pad at the GTA casino store, with some of the artwork already featured on the official diamond casino and resort site. The artwork can be purchased using chips from the casino. You’ll also be able to purchase new clothing and accessories. If you’re short on cash, remember you can find all playing cards in GTA online. You’ll get cash and RP for each, plus some plush new threads if you claim each one.

GTA 5 online casino update is finally launching, with the release date for the highly anticipated grand theft auto DLC fast approaching.

Earlier this week rockstar games confirmed the release date for the GTA casino update and outlined what will be included in it.

The GTA 5 online casino update will be out on the PS4, xbox one and pcs on tuesday july 23 and it will bring with it the new diamond casino & resort.

The new GTA location features a casino where grand theft auto fans can play poker, blackjack, hit the slot machines or try out virtual horse racing.

The diamond casino & resort will also feature luxury penthouses, including a master penthouse with a roof terrace and infinity pool.

Outlining the update in a blog post, rockstar games said: “the massive construction project on the corner of vinewood park drive and mirror park boulevard is nearing completion, radically changing the skyline of los santos forever.

“when the brand-new diamond casino & resort opens its doors, one and all are welcome inside to play, or just to stay in the most luxurious residence in the entire state.

However, for petrol heads this doesn’t look like it will be the only new vehicle coming with the GTA casino update.

Rockstar games insider tezfunz2 has said the new GTA 5 online patch will bring with it loads of new supercars.

They tweeted: “lots of new super/sports cars in this update . #gtaonline”.

The twitter user also discovered files relating to a brand new website that could be launching in GTA online.

Tezfunz2 tweeted: “I found a new domain for R*/T2 made on june 28th. Http://vandalay-industries.Net.

“vandelay industries is mentioned in ‘seinfeld’ TV show, a company made up by george costanza that manufacture and sell latex.

“this matches up with R* classic humor. This could be a new website in #gtaonline”.

Rockstar games has provided further release news on their upcoming GTA 5 online casino update for PS4, xbox and PC platforms.

And as fans will now know, it’s going to do more than just open the doors to a building that has been closed since servers went live.

The release date news we received this week probably wasn’t the kind fans were hoping for, but it does provide a little more information on when the big update could be launched.

It appears that we can scrap the idea that the new GTA online casino will open in june.

From the language used by rockstar in a recent post, it sounds like the new content won’t be dropping this month.

In fact, the wording is so vague it’s hard to determine if it will arrive during july 2019.

It also sounds like there will be plenty of table games to enjoy and a chance to score high payouts.

Some data miners believe that you will be able to buy a piece of the casino and probably have access to your own room within it, much as we have seen with other businesses.

With the references to “exclusive shopping” and other first-class entertainment, there’s a chance that the casino will become the game’s biggest hub.

It opens the way for new shops and activities, some of which could spill over from red dead redemption 2.

But until rockstar games pulls back the cover the complete on their next expansion, we will have to wait and see what is being planned.

Rockstar games has posted two big updates on the GTA casino - one being a teaser trailer on twitter announcing the DLC and a following blog post.

These GTA 5 online casino teasers were published in june over the space of two weeks, but since then official news has been thin on the ground.

In their last blog post rockstar games teased that in-game pictures of the GTA casino would be coming next.

So far no pictures of the GTA casino, which is called the 'diamond casino & resort’, have been released.

But as fans wait for pictures of the GTA casino new details have emerged about the highly anticipated grand theft auto DLC.

On monday the official rockstar games twitter account posted an interesting message about the GTA casino.

They said GTA fans should link their twitch prime accounts to the social club ahead of the release of the GTA casino.

The tweet may be hinting that once the GTA casino is opened there will be specific twitch prime bonuses for it.
