I haven't been inside a real casino in years, but I remember enjoying the wheel of fortune slot machines. It was like any other three-reel machine, but if you got the special wheel symbol on the payline, you could then spin the big wheel of fortune on the top for a bonus prize. The machine would shout "wheel! Of! Fortune!" and the big wheel would spin and anyone nearby would stop what they were doing to watch. A fun, satisfying, and extremely stupid way to give away your money.

As I was walking through GTA online's new diamond casino yesterday, I noticed a couple of the virtual slot machines had wheel of fortune-style wheels built into them, too. I sat down at one called fame or shame to see if I could win the chance to spin the big-ass wheel. Next to me was an NPC playing a different slot, so as I sat there I watched her reels, too, to see which of us would hit three matching symbols on the payline first. Sort of like a race to pass the time.

I figured I'd win easily because I was spinning the reels much faster than she was—the casino npcs tend to react, curse, complain, look around, and fiddle with their bets between each spin. Meanwhile I hit the button as soon as possible, so I was spinning my reels about three times for every one of hers.

But she hit three sevens on her payline pretty quickly. And soon I began to notice she wasn't the only one. The casino npcs are hitting three sevens suspiciously often. All of them. They're winning hundreds of thousands of dollars every couple minutes. You know who isn't? Me. An important person.

I took a few laps around the casino, peeking over the gamblers' shoulders. Everywhere I went, I saw winners. And not just sevens on the payline! Below, I walk by five different gamblers and see lots of matching symbols on the payline. Three grapes. Three grapes. A miss. Three sevens. And three more sevens. At any given time, four out of five gamblers are hitting a damn jackpot. What gives?

This isn't random. I played slots for two solid hours last night because in addition to having no life I wanted to gather evidence. I'm not saying I never won anything—each slot has a symbol that pays off even if you only get one or two of them, but in all that time I hit three symbols exactly once. About an hour in I got three grapes. That was it! Three lousy goddamn grapes.

At the end of the night I was down 10 grand on a slot machine with a max bet of $25.

All the AI-controlled npcs, though? In that same period of time they won hundreds of thousand of dollars. Over and over again I'd walk past a gambler or park my ass next to one of them and they'd come up all sevens. Where are my sevens?

Is it a conspiracy? Are these npcs paid by the casino to sit there and win to convince idiots (me) that these are the loosest (and only) slots in town? Are they all part of a collective of cheaters who cracked these machines' algorithms and know how to hit the jackpot 25% of the time and won't tell me how they do it? Did one of my many, many deaths in GTA online deliver me to hell, like in that twilight zone episode, but instead of me always winning, everyone else is always winning? (note to the writer of that episode: that would be a much more punishing version of hell. Oh, wait, the writer of that episode died in 1967. Disregard.)

Lost in this frustrating slot machine conspiracy is the fact that I never got the chance to spin the fame or shame wheel and win a shirt or a watch or whatever prize it dispatches. You need to get three golden microphones on the payline to spin it, and I never got those. I also never got three sevens or three melons or three bells. Just those three measly grapes, once, in two hours.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! I've been strolling around in a white suit, white shoes, a white scarf and a white top hat—decidedly un-NPC-like. This morning I buy myself a standard NPC outfit, and drive back in a dull brown car, obeying all the traffic rules like an obedient AI.

I buy a sensible 500 chips from the cashier—not the usual 50,000 some high-falutin' player character might. I stand around in a cluster of npcs for a bit, blending in, then pretend to notice an interesting looking slot machine for the first time.

"fame or shame? Say, that sounds like a lark! Maybe I will give it a try! Excuse me, fellow automatons, I'll be right back." I walk nonchalantly over, glancing at at NPC sitting nearby (of course she has just hit triple sevens) and give the reels a spin.

Huh. Triple cherries. Just like that. What took me two hours last night, I just accomplished in a single spin.

It ain't triple sevens—frankly, it's not even as good as triple grapes—and I still haven't gotten to spin the fame or shame wheel. But it's an instant win for this fake NPC. Maybe I'm onto something.

Unfortunately, you can’t just walk into the casino and start the missions just like that. You’ll first need to purchase the casino penthouse from the diamond casino and resort’s website, or from the concierge at the front desk of the building.

On top of that, you’ll also need to purchase the VIP membership which costs you $500. Add on the cheapest penthouse’s staggering $1.5 million price tag, and you’ll need a fair chunk of money to unlock the diamond casino missions in GTA V.

How to start diamond casino missions in GTA V

Now that you’ve purchased the penthouse and the VIP membership, you’ll now unlock a new area of the diamond casino accessible only to management. You’ll also get a call from ms. Baker, who you’ll end up meeting here, so just follow the mission marker.

It’s also only accessible to those who have the VIP membership, hence why we advised you purchasing both this and the penthouse as soon as you’ve got to the resort.

The truth about GTA 5 slot machines

In case you missed it, a recent update to GTA online added a whole new area to the game's world called the diamond casino & resort. And in the casino, you'll find your usual table games, horse races, and, of course, slot machines. But something's off about the slot machines in GTA 5's grand theft auto online.

Is it that the slot machines are overly kind and are just handing out free money to whoever pulls the lever? Are the slot machines constructed entirely from chocolate and we're only noticing now? Do the slot machines warp in and out, as though they're caught between two dimensions? None of those, it turns out, are correct.

Here's the truth: GTA online's slot machines are screwing players while lining the pockets of the npcs. But sometimes the truth is complicated.

The discovery was made by PC gamer's christopher livingston, who noticed while playing slots that all of the non-playable characters (npcs) around him seemed to be winning. A lot. Meanwhile, livingston was regularly sinking tens of thousands of dollars into the slot machines and coming away empty handed. This shouldn't come as a total surprise: the npcs aren't real people, so the game can rig the odds in their favor to whatever degree it wishes. The act isn't really harming anyone, unless you believe all characters in the game should be treated fairly. In which case.

Non-playable characters can die in GTA 5 and GTA online from what, one or two bullets? Meanwhile, you can tank quite a few during a gunfight, and then walk away later as if nothing happened. That doesn't seem entirely fair either. Maybe the npcs should organize a protest.

To be fair, the PC gamer article reads more like a joke than anything. And livingston "learns" at the end that he can dress himself up like a regular nobody at the casino to experience better luck. But that's the extent to which the game is actively cheating players. You, as the player, have worse odds than all of the pretend people sitting around you.

GTA 5 online has plenty of easter eggs, but there’s one included in the most recent grand theft auto expansion that has raised fans hopes of a long-dormant franchise getting a sequel.

Recent rumours have suggested that GTA 6 might be the next major project announced by rockstar games.

There’s been a long gap between GTA 5 and the next instalment in the franchise, with red dead redemption 2 filling that hole.

But there has also been speculation regarding a bully sequel being released in the future too.

And rockstar fans would probably be happy to hear about either project as the next game coming from the studio.

While grand theft auto 5 may have been released some time ago, GTA online continues to receive updates.

This includes the new casino expansion launched this week, which has opened up the dormant space for the very first time.

New missions can be completed, properties bought alongside new vehicles which are usually the items fans are most interested in.

But another item has been spotted that could either be a simple easter egg, or something a little more special.

That’s because gamers, via comicbook, have found a piece of artwork that can be bought and displayed in the new master penthouse.

It’s called “canis canem edit” which is the name of the bully game in europe and something of a major easter egg for that game.

This has led some fans to think that rockstar games are hinting at a new bully project, while others are not so sure.

“there's too much coincidences occurring lately that hints out bully. The voice calls, RDR 2 being a complete love letter to bully fans, soundtrack leaks, artwork leaks, the identical font family for that RD online game mode, etc,” one bully fan writes online.

“unless rockstar wants to lose all their fans, bully 2 BEST be in the works at this point!”

There probably isn’t enough here to suggest that rockstar games are preparing fans for a big bully 2 reveal, but there have been other hints that something is in the works.

Some rumours were sparked by casting calls, reportedly looking for people to fill young roles, none of which have been given full character names.

The description given made it sound like it could be connected to a game like bully, but a solid link was never found to put the two together.

A former rockstar insider named yann2295 also provided an update on the project in 2017, saying it was in development and would be the next game released after red dead redemption 2.

So there is still a slim chance that bully 2 could be a big surprise sprung on gamers in the future, even though this information dates back to 2017.

This would also line up with recent predictions surrounding the release date of GTA 6.

While some rumours have pointed to GTA 6 arriving in 2020, some analysts believe it won’t be hitting shelves until a later date.

According to jefferies analyst alex giaimo, GTA 6 isn't likely to be released until at least april 2021.

Because of the extended wait for the company's next major release, giaimo has advised people not to invest for the time being.

"take-two possesses the most high-quality content amongst the US publishers, yet valuation feels full,” he said.

"we struggle to find a near-term catalyst to push the multiple much higher at these levels. Despite the undeniable success of GTA and RDR [red dead redemption series], we believe TTWO is now in a 'soft spot' when considering the timing of the next release."

If rockstar games were to announce bully 2 as their next project, it would be a clear indicator that GTA 6 would not be released until after that date.
